Repair steps

  1. 1

    Back up and power down

    Take a full backup, then shut the device down completely.

    Warm the adhesive

    Heat the edges gently and lift the rear cover, keeping the hinge side intact.

    Tip: Low, patient heat beats high heat — overheating warps the frame.

    Disconnect battery and display

    Remove brackets and disconnect the battery before the display flexes.

    Transfer components

    Move the earpiece, sensor housing and brackets to the new assembly.

    Warning: Damaging the Face ID module is unrecoverable — it cannot be replaced by third parties.

    Seal and test

    Fit new adhesive, reassemble, and test touch, brightness, True Tone and Face ID.
